Romans 8:28

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

What challenge is pressing against you today? Is it financial? Is it emotional? Is it physical? Regardless of what it may be, Paul’s declaration is no glib cliché meant for framing and hanging on your wall. It is a bold statement of fact meant for us to live.

To those who love God, there is great comfort in knowing that the events of our world are working with a goal in mind – there is no randomness in God’s ways. All that we encounter is under the watchful eye of Almighty God, who says. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.” (Revelation 1:8)

Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. As the Alpha and Omega, God knows everything about everything – from A to Z – nothing escapes His notice. God’s hand rests on every circumstance. When “all things” test our limits, the encouragement comes in knowing that they are for our ultimate good.

Evangelist R. A. Torrey calls such knowledge:

“A soft pillow for a tired heart.”

Do you love the Lord? If you have put your trust in Him for eternal salvation, then trust Him in your everyday life. Are you following hard after Him and loving Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength? Then you can meet your challenges resting in the confident knowledge that all things are under His guiding eye and loving hand.

Awaiting His return,

– Pastor Jack
